The Waco "Mystery Ship" made its maiden flight after a three month inspection and overhaul. The new engine from Tulsa Aircraft Engines ran out perfectly and has a black case, a bit more horsepower, and quite a growl to it.

(Dec. 1, 2009)
To our surprise this morning, the "Sons of Legends" were featured on the cover of the business section of USA Today. The article contained stories of family business passed down from generation to generation. Being that we are all third generation pilots, they felt we were the perfect fit for part of their story and consider this a tremendous honor to be featured in our nations newspaper.

Matt Younkin Injured in Emergency Landing
(Nov. 12, 2009)
As most have you have heard by now, Matt Younkin was injured Tuesday afternoon around 3:00pm when the single engine Mullicoupe he was flying lost power. He was forced into an emergency landing near a model airplane field south of his home in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Matt was able to pull himself from the wreckage and walk to the model field fence to wait on fire-rescue. Matt's injuries were non-life threatening: He had a gash in his left leg that was cleaned and sewn up, a broken nose, a bone fracture above his right eye and the bones in his right hand were dis-located. He was released from the hospital today and is expected to make a full recovery in time for the arrival of his baby girl, due December 6th.

Matt will be back in the air within a month or two and will fly a full schedule of airshow performances during the 2010 season. He and his family would like to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers throughout his recovery.

Bobby Younkin to be inducted into Air Show Hall of Fame
(Sept. 1, 2009)
(updated 10/22/09)

On December 9, 2009, Bobby Younkin will join many airshow greats by taking his place of honor in the International Aerobatic Hall of Fame. Over Bobby's 30 year airshow career, he put his own unique spin on the AT-6 and Super Decathlon and Pitts SAMSON, exploiting them in ways that no one had before or since. He was also widely regarded for his one of a kind performances in the Learjet 23 and Beech 18. Bobby mentored many other performers, most of which are still flying today, and inspired millions across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Today, his son, Matt Younkin, is flying Bobby’s former Twin Beech and Decathlon on the airshow circuit. His daughter Amanda Younkin Franklin is married to airshow performer Kyle Franklin, and serves as Kyle’s wingwalker. Bobby Younkin died on July 10, 2005 when he collided with 2007 Hall of Fame inductee, Jimmy Franklin at an airshow in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Bobby's unique and original brand of showmanship has undoubtedly earned his place of honor in the Hall of Fame.

(January 29,2009)

As most of you have seen, we debuted a new theme with the Waco called "Pirated Skies" last year at Oshkosh, which consists of Kyle portraying "Captain Kyro" in search of the Treasure of Eight and much more. As part of our act, Captain Kyro shared his treasure (plastic gold coins) with the crowd after his performance. The act was well received and the children ate it up. This year, we will be continuing with our 2009 coins, which will be dated and have a different styling than last years.

For 2009, we are expanding "Pirated Skies" with longtime wing walker and first mate, Todd Green on top of the Waco "Mystery Ship." Our "Pirate Wingwalking" will consist of new aerial and freestyle maneuvers not seen before on the airshow circuit. We are looking forward to a fun and busy airshow season, beginning in 2 weeks!

Jimmy Franklin to be inducted into Air Show Hall of Fame
(July 16, 2007)

AIR SHOW HALL OF FAME ANNOUNCES CLASS OF 2007
The ICAS Foundation has announced that they will induct four air show legends into the prestigious ICAS Foundation Air Show Hall of Fame. Jimmy Franklin, Jim Driskell, Danny Clisham and Sean D. Tucker join the ranks of other aviation greats who have been inducted into the Air Show Hall of Fame since its inception in 1995.

For many, Jim Franklin personified the innovation, daring and excitement of the air show business. On several different occasions, Franklin "reinvented" himself and his air show act to bring fresh ideas to the world of air shows.

Jim Driskell is best known as the "voice" of the world's greatest pilot, Robert H. "Bob" Hoover. Driskell set the standard in air show announcing professionalism from the early 1970s through the late 1990s.

Danny Clisham is one of America's most popular air show announcers. His encyclopedic knowledge of performers, sponsors, maneuvers and aircraft has made him one of the most successful and most popular announcers in air show history.

In addition to his hard-charging solo aerobatic performances, Sean D. Tucker has been an advocate for aviation safety, an accomplished speaker, a pioneer in air show corporate sponsorship, and a teacher and mentor for many of his colleagues in the air show business.

The induction ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 13 during the annual ICAS convention in December at the Rio All-Suites Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It will be completely torn down for a full rebuild and run-though. The Cub, dubbed "Franklinstein," will also be repainted to our family colors of black, silver and red.
